Exciting News for Program Directors
School is now in session, and it’s time to prepare for the BOC
exam. The following is important information for you and your
students for the 2011 exam year. The BOC encourages you to
share this information with your students and CI/ACIs as

Effective as of the January/February 2011 exam: elimination
of ECC for exam application approval
• ECC is still required; however, it is not needed for exam
application approval. In order to complete a file for
certification, successful BOC exam candidates must mail,
fax or email a front and back copy of a current, signed ECC
card and mail an official transcript, in a university sealed
envelope, with degree and date of degree posted.
• Candidates who have successfully challenged the
certification exam have 1 year from the date of exam to
complete their file with required materials (e.g., official
college transcript with degree and date of degree posted,
current signed copy of ECC card). It is the candidate’s
responsibility to submit the required application materials.
Ì Written documentation of current first aid, CPR and
AED training consistent with the NATA Athletic
Training Educational Competencies.
Ì The program IS NOT required to keep or maintain
certification cards for students in first aid, CPR,
emergency cardiac care, etc.
Ì The program IS required to keep written
documentation that students in the program have
been educated on the content and mastered clinical
skills associated with first aid and emergency care,
including AED training, that is consistent with the
content presented in the NATA Athletic Training
Effective as of the January/February 2011 exam: requirement
of legal name including suffix
• To ensure exam security, the BOC now requires all
candidates with a suffix in their legal name to include the
suffix in the last name field of their personal profile in
BOC Central™. If a candidate already has a profile in
BOC Central™, he/she will need to submit a name change
form and a copy of their valid, government issued photo ID.
The name change form and copy of the valid, government
issued photo ID may be scanned and emailed to the
Credentialing Services Department at Exam@bocatc.org
or faxed to (402) 561-0598.
• The BOC is excited to offer Program Directors a report that
provides additional exam statistical analysis. The Program
Analysis Statistical Summary Report, or PASS Report,
provides statistics that go beyond the annual school report
that is provided each year. The Pass Report includes the
total number of passing candidates and overall pass rate.
The report also provides the average number of attempts to
pass the exam and the average exam score for first time
